Beyond the snapshot: the ethics of documenting India’s living traditions

Documenting India requires more than a fast lens; it requires a slow heart. On our photography tours, we explore rituals that have remained virtually unknown to the outside world, such as the Golferiyo Mela swing ritual, where men spin at incredible speeds as a test of faith.

We visit the homes of Pithora painters, witnessing how they create sacred wall murals to invite protection and prosperity. Our approach is always to listen first. We spend time in vibrant village markets and evening Holika Dahan fire ceremonies, ensuring our presence is respectful and unobtrusive. This mindful engagement is what allows our guests to capture the raw, emotional splendour of tribal life.
